How (Not) to Build a Component Library

The biggest conference for frontend developers in the Czech Republic is behind us, and we are very happy to have been part of it. This year’s edition took place at the Hotel Passage in Brno, and as conference partners, we had the opportunity to speak on the partner stage, where I gave a talk How (Not) to Build a Component Library.

Škoda Flow Web Library

I shared practical experience from developing a component library, what such a library actually is, why it is created, what worked well for us, and what did not during the development of the Flow Web Library for Škoda Auto.

At Green:Code, we have been developing it for two years now, and together with its documentation, it is publicly available at:

From the Stage to the Green:Code Booth

The great interest in the talk was evident not only from the packed hall but also later at our booth. And because the frontend for us is not just about words, we presented real examples of projects built on Škoda Flow Web Library:

- Škoda Auto Annual Report Website, an interactive and visually engaging online presentation.
- Digital Showroom Experience (DISE), a solution that brings a digital experience directly into showrooms.

Many thanks to our colleagues at Škoda Auto, with whom we create these projects together. It would not be possible without their collaboration. We also thank the entire FrontKon organizing team for a great event and the energy they put into it every year.
